Map of Taliban Control in Afghanistan in 2009
A new leaked Afghan government map reveals Taliban control and at risk areas. The map, when compared to a 2007 map show that the Taliban have continued to make gains in Pashtun and Baluchi areas. Disturbingly, the Taliban have not only managed to hang on in the Turkmen northwest but also open a new front in the Tajik/Hazara north. Any news of the Taliban expanding outside the Pashtun south and east is very bad.
The only good news is that Pakistan is turning the tide against the Taliban there. The denial of support bases in Pakistan's west could greatly harm the Taliban's ability to keep up the fight in Afghanistan.

Very disturbing, especially the lack of progress since 2007. Hopefully we will do better now.
Whats interesting the areas where Taliban are present there are large vast quantities of natural resources like copper and gemstones present. The US and NATO are doing the same thing the British did to the Boers in South Africa during the Boers War. The Boers owned the land where the present day diamond and gold mines are located. History is just repeating itself with the help of corporate media propaganda and false-flag operations.
Anonymous,
What are the false-flag operations you speak of? Also, are you stating that the war in Afghanistan is a war for copper and gemstones?
Gemstones?
Don't forget access to Daedric shrines!
If you take a look though extreme high risk and high risk have fallen in areas.
Look at the areas carefully.
very southwest it was over half high risk and now is completely at low risk.
Some parts at the northern area of the are at low risk or down to high risk.
The medium risk has shrunk in the south. But grew a little in the north.
Though in total we have made gains. If you don't believe me check.
who provided data for these maps?
Anonymous,
According to the article the data was leak to Reuters via from the British.
